FAQs
Everything engineers need to know about Optomech optical metrology systems.
Optical metrology is the science of measuring dimensions and geometry using light-based instruments. Optomech offers a complete range: profile projectors (PP), video/vision measuring machines (VPP/VMM), quick measuring machines (QMM), digital video microscopes, and specialised inspection systems — all manufactured in Hyderabad, India since 1981.
A profile projector projects a magnified silhouette onto a screen for manual overlay comparison — fast and simple for shop-floor checks. A vision measuring machine (VMM) uses a camera and software to automatically measure GD&T features, run CNC programs, and produce rich reports — suited for complex geometry and high-volume inspection.
For high-volume automotive parts such as turned parts, stampings, and gears, the Quick Measuring Machine (QMM Opto Series) delivers seconds-per-part pass/fail results with recipe templates and SPC/CPK exports. For complex GD&T requirements, the Vision Measuring Machine (VMM) is recommended.
Yes. All Optomech metrology systems are calibrated and verified to NABL-traceable national standards, ensuring measurement credibility for quality audits, regulatory compliance, and export requirements.
Optomech metrology systems are used across automotive & EV, aerospace & defence, medical devices, plastics & packaging, electronics, glass & containers, metals & extrusions, and general engineering. Systems are deployed in 12+ countries.
Yes. Optomech has an in-house SolidWorks + AutoCAD design team and CNC machining capability. Custom measurement fixtures, overlay charts, and application-specific optical configurations are available on request.
A Quick Measuring Machine (QMM) uses recipe-based templates for fast, repeatable pass/fail checks on standard features — ideal for production line inspection. A Vision Measuring Machine (VMM) is a fully programmable CNC system with autofocus, edge detection, and probing for complex GD&T measurement of diverse part families.
All systems are designed and manufactured at Optomech's 10,000 sq. ft. facility in Kukatpally, Hyderabad. After-sales support includes installation, on-site calibration, operator training, Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC), genuine spare parts, and remote diagnostics.
